Children will help make their own homemade ice cream with Clarkson University Society of Women Engineers members. Differing salt, the cooling agent, will be added to the bag of ice used to freeze the ice cream. Then, they will open the bag and look to see if their ice cream is frozen or not to see how much salt is optimal for the “best” ice cream consistency. Throughout the entirety of their session they will be coached through the scientific method. The children will learn the basic concepts of creating hypotheses, conducting experiments, and drawing conclusions. Their creations will also be sent home with them to foster future experimental learning!
No need to preregister. Program included with membership and admission.
