Family Art Workshop – Chihuly Sculptures

Glass sculptures galore! We will be looking at some of artist Dale Chihuly’s greatest glasswork and studying his use of illuminated color and shape laying and repetition. We will then make our own Chihuly inspired sculpture from melted and manipulated recycled plastics.

Family STEM Workshop – Design Challenge: Sail Boat Building

In this workshop, families will build and race the fastest, most seaworthy, vessel that they can using the materials provided. After learning about different types of sailboats, and the technology they incorporate, each family will construct a boat to race against other families’ designs. Let the race begin!

Come to this workshop to build three-dimensional shaped bubble blowing wand that will add a new level to your bubble blowing this summer! Children will learn how to construct different geometric shapes, and then use them to create beautiful and odd-shaped bubbles.

Family Art Workshop – Suncatching Wearable Wings

Get inspired by our collection of moths and butterflies as you plan a design for your very own oversized wearable wings. You will create large wings from transparent film to wear out in the sun. We will be exploring color and light. Watch your shadow shimmer with color and you move around outdoors.

Family STEM Workshop – Newton’s Cradles

Experience Newton’s fundamental laws of physics first hand by exploring and building what is commonly referred to as a “ball clacker”. These classic toys demonstrate basic laws of physics. Come construct a ball clacker toy and harness the powers at play in the universe!

Family Art Workshop – Street Art

Come learn about different forms of street art including murals, 3D sidewalk chalk, and graffiti. You will be provided a chunk of real pavement to use for your very own street art. You will then be able to take this street art home with you.
